Hey hey!

I’m back & full of excitement to share with you the best thing that happened to me this week & a little dream come true. But before I continue there’s one thing you have to know about me- I love the little things! The things that make me smile are not typical & are almost always 100% random & totally outside of the box. You’re probably wondering where I’m taking you this time by the title, “A Bug’s Life”, & with that being said, I’d like to say, “Drop all your expectations and ideas on what you think this is about & join me in my world- it’ll be fun!”

The weather has been perfect here- clear blue skies & a nice temp around 70 degrees. I’m sure this sounds amazing to all my Oregonian peeps who are currently experiencing a grey sky & 40 degree day, sorry! You can live vicariously through me, put your feet up, & enjoy! It was perfect during our ministry time walking through our town passing out invitations for an upcoming youth event & Bible study we’re hosting. I was walking in a local park with a few ladies (Val, Abi and Kylah) from my squad & Cornell (a missionary here in Craiova) searching for teens to chat with & invite. We were having no luck finding people our age. Everywhere we looked there were cute little retirees soaking up time with each other & parents playing with their kiddos. With hope for what might lie ahead, we decided to hop on over to another park across the street praying our search would turn out to be a success. Thanks to Jesus, It was more than a success but a dream come true! Halfway down the park path Val looked at me with excitement & pointed to a nearby picnic table. I wanted to cry from pure joy! A little dream I’ve had ever since I saw the movie A Bug’s Life- interact with a group of retirement men with young spirits who meet regularly to play chess in a local park. I vocalized this dream of mine to Val the previous day & it had finally came true!

This picture is precious. These men are precious. The friendship they’ve built is something so special. You can see their young & joyful spirits and such tender & welcoming hearts in this picture, and it was even more radiant in person. They are the definition of gentleman- chivalrous, courteous, or honorable. The wisdom & life they’ve lived was something I was so fascinated by & they gladly shared it with me. These gentlemen have no idea how much this meant to me. It was better than I had dreamed.

I vocalized this dream I had to Val the previous day as we were rushing to the house to make lunch & passed by a group of men playing chess in a park. I only got a glimpse but it instantly filled me with joy. It’s amazing to think that even though I didn’t pray for my dream to come true God still knew my hearts desire & wanted to fulfill them. It made me so happy to even just get a glimpse but this just shows God’s unconditional love that He took it to the next step to actually present me with an opportunity to experience it. This experience was His gift to me at just the perfect time. He knows me so intimately that He used one of my love languages to bring me hope & joy during a slow ministry day- little acts of kindness. I love it, especially when it’s the little things that I like, even when they’re random & odd. Thank you God for this unexpected gift in the park & for reminding me how much I am loved & known by you.

I hope by reading this blog & seeing the cute picture of the men in the park you were able to experience the warm & fuzzy feelings I felt. I don’t know about you, but I’m craving “A Bug’s Life” right now, so please enjoy the movie for me & I’ll live vicariously through you!

Thanks for reading!!
